Infant and Toddler Classrooms

Each child is an individual. This is why each classroom offered at Cook's Academy is based on a child's individual development. Ages listed are approximate and our goal is to provide your child with the appropriate classroom environment for his/her abilities. Classroom assignments are decided based on age, director, lead teacher and parent observations, and evaluations.

Our warm, loving environment gives your six-week- to 12-month-old infant a safe place to develop new skills and discover their world. We allow each individual infant to set their own schedule as his/her day includes eating, napping, cuddling, tummy time, and other age appropriate activities . Our "grandma" introduces the infants to colorful visual stimulation as well as soothing music and voice.

As infants begin developing more motor skills -- such as standing and walking -- they are transitioned into the Junior Cadets classroom. This curriculum focuses on activities which provide visual stimulation as well as those that promote small and large motor development. The children are introduced to more structure as they begin to establish a routine in their day. Lesson plans, bi-weekly classroom newsletters and daily communication sheets provide both you and your child with a well-rounded introductory toddler program.

Children age 20 to approximately 30 months will find lots of toys and activities to explore as they progress as Senior Cadets. There are several different learning areas placed around the classroom for Senior Cadets to experiment with as they choose. This curriculum has been designed to aid in the developmental, emotional and physical growth of each child. Some activities include music and movement, arts and crafts, storytime, outdoor and indoor playtime, small and large group activities, snacks, lunch and napping.
